Brief

Design a marketing website for the NTTW conference

The website's prime objective was to

  1. Display the conference date

  2. Conference theme

  3. To show the schedule information

  4. Get people to register for the conference.

The second key objective was to keep the user interface and experience of the website easy to follow.

Design Process

Research

Researching Charity and Conference websites helped me better understand the structure and flow of such websites combined with the brand requirements. After going through competitive charity and conference websites, the next step was to sit with the stakeholders and understand the website KPIs.

  1. Stakeholder interview

  2. Competitive analysis of other HIV-related conference websites

Define

The focus of this project was to create a user-friendly platform that clearly defines the conference objectives, such as follows:

  1. Speakers' information

  2. Schedule for the conference

  3. Educating the visitor about the event's theme

  4. Mentioning the possibility of having translations, specifying that it's an inclusive event, etc.

The wireframing and sitemap were designed to keep a single CTA repeated twice on the first fold of the landing page, one on the navigation and the other on the hero section.

My contribution was in multiple areas of design;

  1. Designed the Splash Screen: View the prototype

  2. A control segment to display the conference theme on the homepage

Wireframing & Sitemap

3. Speakers page's structure and layout

4. Footer for the website

The goal was to organize the website's hierarchy well to avoid confusion.

Stakeholder Review (Desktop & Mobile Website)

Once the different iterations were ready, I represented the design team and presented the designs to the Founder, Marketing team and Developer.

After receiving the feedback, the next step was to validate the changes to make sure there was an impact on the change/suggestion, which falls under the website launch deadline.

The objective was to ensure the developer had enough time to code the website and make the handover of the files hassle-free.

Feedback Implementation

Final Iteration

Final Iteration

  1. Journal the meetings with PM

  2. Make sure the pivot points during designing are written down along with reasons.

3. Doing Design Critiques with the fellow designer working in the team

4. Keep the developer informed about the Iteration process

Design Impact

Launched the website in two phases:

1. We went live with the Splash website on October 7th

2. The complete content website went live on October 20th

Since its launch, the website has received 70 registrations in 12 days. And with the current rate of registrations, we're predicting to get double the number in the next 24 days, i.e. 140 registrations Vs last year's registrations, totalling 120.
The growth rate of the registrations proves there'll be a 16% increase in the total number is a success criterion to show the design impact.

Next Steps

The website is LIVE now.

The next step was to add a new page to the website; where the attendees could come and submit their ideas for the next conference.

The theme of the website was decided to be different.

Here's the live link to the website.
